Permanent Croatian Representative to the Council of Europe Daniel Bučan handed on 6 June 2007, on behalf of the Croatian Government, the documents on the ratification of the European Convention for the Protection of Audiovisual Heritage and the Framework Convention of the Council of Europe on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society

The European Convention for the Protection of Audiovisual Heritage obligates the storage of produced and co-produced audiovisual material, its systematic archiving, and accessibility for the public, as well as the academic and scientific circles.

The Framework Convention of the Council of Europe on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society is based on the idea that knowing and using the heritage is one of the citizens’ rights to participate in the cultural life, as decreed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Heritage is considered the source of human development, the strengthening of cultural diversity, stimulating intercultural dialogue, and a part of the economic development model based on the principles of using sustainable resources.
