A visa application shall be submitted in person. Exceptionally, if there are justified reasons, visa application does not have to be submitted in person, but an applicant has to collect his/her visa personally at the Embassy. For minors and persons deprived of business capacity visa applications are submitted by their legal representatives.
For the purpose of toursim, visa applications can be submitted via agencies accredited by the Embassy.

- a visa application form– https://mvep.gov.hr/UserDocsImages/files/file/obrasci/VisaApplicationEnglish.pdf needs to be fully filled out in Latin alphabet and capital letters, and signed (IMPORTANT: the application should be signed in two places). - a valid travel document (the validity period of the travel document should exceed that of the visa by three months, it must be issued in the previous 10 years and it must contain at least two empty pages)
- a colour photograph (35x45 mm)
- evidence of paid visa fee
- evidence of valid travel health insurance – for coverage of any costs that might occur during the stay in Croatia due to:
- urgent medical assistance and/or urgent hospital treatment or
- return to the country of residence because of health reasons or
- transportation in the event of death
The lowest sum insured must be the equivalent in HRK of €30,000.
Applicants for visas for one or two entries are obliged to provide a valid travel medical insurance policy covering the entire period of their stay in Croatia.
Applicants for multiple-entry visas are obliged to provide a valid travel medical insurance policy covering the period of their first stay in Croatia.
Applicants are obliged to take out travel medical insurance with an insurance company in the country of residence. If this is not possible, travel medical insurance needs to be obtained in another country.
Natural or legal persons from Croatia inviting the applicant can obtain a travel medical insurance on their behalf with an insurance company from Croatia.
- documents that prove:
- the purpose of stay in Croatia,
- ensured accommodation,
- means of subsistence to cover the stay in Croatia and return to the country of residence,
- means of transport and the intention to return to the country of residence or to a third country
A consular officer may request additional documents from the applicant in order for the applicant to substantiate his/her application.
DOCUMENTS SUPPORTING THE PURPOSE OF THE JOURNEY
TOURIST VISIT
The purpose of stay and accommodation is proven by:
- hotel, hostel, camp… - confirmation of hotel or other accommodation booking, proof of payment for package holiday, organised tourist travel, etc.
- private accommodation – confirmation of reservation, along with a copy of a competent office’s decision authorising renting services (local government decision/trade licence)
- use of (personal) property – proof of property ownership (title deed/land register certificate), lease agreement; invitation/declaration by an owner who is a foreign national
- nautical tourism – confirmation of berth reservation/payment in Croatia, excerpt from the register of yachts, charter payment
- one-day trips to Croatia (from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina) – travel agency’s payment confirmation; rent-a-car confirmation, etc.
Accredited travel agency
The application shall be submitted by an authorised representative of a travel agency for individual or group travels.
The agency shall submit the following documents related to a specific travel:
- a certificate of travel package
- a list of travellers (name, surname, passport number)
- information about accommodation in Croatia (address)
- information about transportation
- group or individual travel health insurance
- a proof of paid visa fees
and for each traveller:
- a filled out visa application form, signed manu propria
- a valid passport
- a 35x45 mm colour photo
The Embassy reserves the right to request additional documents or interview any person from a group of travellers.
BUSINESS VISIT
A letter of guarantee by a legal person shall be submitted in original or copy if the original is deposited in the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in Zagreb

The letter of guarantee form is filled out by the guarantor – legal person from Croatia.
The guarantor shall enclose with the letter of guarantee a document proving solvency ("Bon 1" or "Bon 2", or certificate of the commercial court that no liquidation proceedings have been initiated etc.).
The letter of guarantee shall be signed by the person authorised to represent the guarantor and certified by an official stamp.
The Embassy/Consulate keeps the original letter of guarantee.
The applicant is given a copy of the letter of guarantee to present as a proof of the purpose of stay in Croatia if so requested by the competent border control authority.
PRIVATE VISIT (visiting family and friends)
A Letter of guarantee by natural person shall be submitted in original or copy if the original is deposited in the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in Zagreb

For spouses, children, and parents of Croatian nationals: marriage certificate or birth certificate shall be submitted.
OFFICIAL VISIT
Applicants coming to Croatia following an invitation of a Croatian state authority, to participate in international meetings of public interest or events held under the auspices of the Croatian Parliament, President of the Republic of Croatia or Government of the Republic of Croatia, shall submit a letter of invitation issued by a competent authority of the Republic of Croatia, or the host organisation of the international meeting or event.
The letter of invitation has to include:
- information about the applicant: name and surname, date and place of birth, nationality, number of travel document, place of issue and expiry of travel document,
- purpose of stay
- duration of stay in the Republic of Croatia and information about accommodation,
- information about the person bearing the costs of the applicant’s stay in Croatia, name and surname, function (position, job), address and telephone number of the contact person who can provide the relevant information about the applicant.
The letter of invitation does not have to be in original.
CULTURE
A letter of guarantee by a legal person issued by the host organisation of the cultural event shall be provided.
Applicants coming to Croatia following an invitation of a Croatian state authority, to participate in international meetings of public interest or events held under the auspices of the Croatian Parliament, President of the Republic of Croatia or Government of the Republic of Croatia, shall submit a letter of invitation issued by a competent authority of the Republic of Croatia or the host organisation of the international meeting or event.
SPORT EVENTS
Participants of international competitions shall provide a letter of invitation from the host organisation in Croatia; in other cases, a letter of guarantee by a legal person, i.e. of a sports club or federation from Croatia.
HEALTH REASONS
The healthcare institution’s certificate confirming the admission of the patient and treatment in that institution, proof of treatment payment, or evidence of possession of sufficient means for medical treatment shall be provided.
OTHER DOCUMENTS
EVIDENCE OF ACCOMMODATION
- a letter of guarantee or a letter of invitation (if indicated in the letter),
- confirmation of hotel or private accommodation reservation,
- proof of rental or ownership of property in Croatia,
- proof of yacht rental or ownership, or certificate of charter payment/reservation, etc.
MEANS OF SUBSISTENCE DURING STAY IN CROATIA
- cash,
- other means of payment (traveller’s cheques, credit cards, etc.),
- bank certificate, the relevant certificate of applicant’s regular income or the regular income of a person legally obliged to support him,
- a notarised statement by which a third legal or natural person undertakes to pay support costs, along with the relevant proof of solvency
MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION AND INTENTION OF RETURN TO THE COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE
- (paid or reservered) return travel ticket
- registration document and driver’s licence (if travelling by car)
The employed persons shall submit:
- Employer’s letter confirming: employee’s position, beginning (and end, if necessary) of employment and salary certificate indicating the level of salary for the last three months
- Entrepreneurs shall submit a certificate of company registration and the latest tax statement.
- Unemployed persons shall submit: certificate of school attendance, pension certificate, or a document indicating a relationship with Belarus (marriage, birth or death certificate; title deed) or a copy of the employment record (pages with personal data and those showing employment in the last three years).
TRANSIT VISA
The following documents are required:
- a filled out and signed visa application form,
- a valid travel document,
- a 35x45 mm colour photo,
- proof of means of transportation,
- proof of means of subsistence,
- travel health insurance,
- documents proving the possibility of entry into the country of final destination (e.g. visa).
VISA FEES
Visa fee is charged for processing a visa application at the moment of its submission.
Visa fee is not refunded if the visa is refused.

The following persons are exempt from visa fees upon application:
- Close family members of a Croatian national (spouse and minor children),
- Children up to the age of 12,
- Holders of diplomatic and service passports travelling in their official capacity,
- Pupils, students, postgraduate students and teachers accompanying them when they come to attend school, study and professional training,
- Representatives of non-profit organisations up to the age of 25, who are to attend seminars, conferences, sport, cultural or educational events organised by non-profit organisations,
Family members of citizens of EEA Member States (EU + Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Switzerland)
