Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Jandrokovic participated 8 December 2011 in Brussels in the meeting between NATO members' foreign ministers and foreign ministers of non-member ISAF contributors.
Congratulating the Afghan people and government for reaching crucial decision on additional areas in which the Afghan forces will take charge of security issues, Minister Jandrokovic said it proved that the transition was on the right track. Croatia will continue to support this process through the training and mentoring of the Afghan security forces.
After the transition, NATO, its partners and Afghanistan will continue to cooperate in supporting the Afghan security institution, said the minister, emphasizing the importance of such partnership, on which Croatia too places the highest political importance. He added that the positive shift towards partnership with the Afghan institutions could also be seen in the wider international community, as confirmed by the recent Bonn conference on Afghanistan.
In that regard, Croatia is prepared to continue undertaking all the efforts that will mark the new phase of the transition at the coming NATO summit in Chicago and create a vision for the future course of engagement in Afghanistan, concluded Minister Jandrokovic.
