Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Intgration Gordan Jandrokovic participated 14 April 2011 in the Berlin meeting of NATO foreign ministers with ministers of the non-member countries taking part in the ISAF peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.
Minister Jandrokovic congratulated the Afghan government on the decision to launch the transition, a process which marks the pivotal point of the international community's efforts. He said that that political message proved that the ISAF strategy was valid and had yielded concrete results. Croatia will continue to augment the transition process through training and mentoring the Afghan security forces, pointed out Minister Jandrokovic, adding that he believed the transition would successfully be completed by the 2014 deadline.
He also said that the Republic of Croatia considered the joint contribution by all of the actors involved in the process crucial, and in that regard placed special importance on the role of the Afghan government and its ability to assume responsibility for the stability of the country and the security of its people.
