Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandrokovic participated in the meeting of NATO members' foreign ministers, held 3 and 4 December 2009 in Brussels. The meeting discussed a series of topics concerning international security, namely the stability and Euro-Atlantic perspective of South Eastern Europe, the situation in Afghanistan, reforms in Ukraine and Georgia, and the relations between NATO and Russia. The participants also talked about the missile defence and NATO's new Strategic Concept.

The meeting discussed a series of topics concerning international security, namely the stability and Euro-Atlantic perspective of South Eastern Europe, the situation in Afghanistan, reforms in Ukraine and Georgia, and the relations between NATO and Russia. The meeting's main topic concerned the situation in Afghanistan, where under the UN mandate, as part of the NATO forces, Croatia is giving its contribution to the security and stabilization of the country. Minister Jandrokovic welcomed the decision by US President Obama, which Croatia considers key for a successful strategy. Said decision will facilitate the Afghan institutions' assuming of the responsibility for the country's security. Minister Jandrokovic also expressed Croatia's dedication to training the Afghan army, which it considers one of the most direct ways to assist the people of Afghanistan. He also announced the involvement of Croatian forces in the project of training the Afghan police.
As regards the aspirations of the countries of South Eastern Europe, Minister Jandrokovic said that Croatia advocates the participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro in the Membership Action Plan, for which they enjoy Croatia's full political and technical support.
The ministers also held separate meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission, NATO-Georgia Commission, and the NATO-Russia Council.
Croatia supports the development of cooperation between NATO and Ukraine and Georgia, and is willing to offer practical assistance in the preparation and implementation of their reforms.
Croatia also supports the development of pragmatic relations between NATO and Russia, which include the strengthening of political dialogue and practical cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
