Mr. Gordan Maras, Minister for Entrepreneurship and Trade of the Republic of Croatia, took part at the Informal Competitiveness Council/Industry, held in Athens on 12 May. Efforts to enhance competitiveness by the European Industries were discussed. In his intervention, Maras emphasized the need to set up a distinct innovation system at both the national and European level. "Anyone participating in innovation, and entrepreneurs in particular, must be informed about the phases in which support is available, about institutions providing support, and programmes that channel it. A clear and efficient innovation system is at the heart of the Croatian Strategy for incentives to innovation 2014-2020.", Maras declared, adding that "Croatia follows a strategic concept that defines expectations from industry, and identifies the industrial sectors that have potential for growth, development and job creation, based on knowledge and research".
