On June 27 Ambassador Kušen visited two leading universities in Wellington (Victoria University and Messey University). He met with the leadership and representatives of both universities to discuss possible ways of strengthening cooperation with Croatian universities and research institutes. As possible areas of cooperation might be archeology, marine sciences, some areas of electrical engineering, shipping and mechanical engineering, as well as the history and Croatian culture and language, especially for students whose parents are of Croatian origin and have that extra interest for a possible study visit to Croatia. NZ universities have very strong degree programs in agriculture (new technologies in animal husbandry, dairy industry, food production), maritime studies, but also in the field of IT and application of information technology in the industry. Special attention was given to the possible interest for cooperation in the field of advanced materials and nanotechnology.
