Mayor Andro Krstulovic Opara with the Mayor of Beith Shemesh Aliza Bloch

As part of the program at the Muni World 2020 International Conference of Local Government, the Mayor of the City of Split Andro Krstulovic Opara visited Beit Shemesh, where he was received by Mayor Aliza Bloch. The cities of Split and Beit Shemesh have been Sister Cities since 1994. Mayor Bloch outlined the benefits and challenges that the city of Beit Shemesh is facing given the large population increase over the last 30 years, and stressed that half of its population is under 14 years old. Considering the plans for the development of tourist sites and potentials, she expressed interest for the best experiences and policies of the City of Split in that regard. Along with an overview of the development of the City, Mayor Krstulovic Opara highlighted Split’s achievements in the field of tourism and sports. The two Mayors concluded that sport could be a priority in enhancing future cooperation. Mayor Bloch invited the representative of Split to participate in the Festival of Jewish Music in October this year, while Mayor Krstulovic Opara invited Mayor Bloch to a return visit to Split in the near future. The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Moshe Shitrit, Director of International Cooperation Harley Stark and Tourism and Environment Advisor Zvi Wolicki. Mr. Krešimir Budiša, Advisor to the Mayor for City Development and EU Funds was a member of the Mayor Krstulovic"s delegation, while Ambassador Vesela Mrden Korac and Attaché Goran Vidoševic attended the meeting.
