Croatian Embassy at the roundtable discussion about the EU at 60

On 10 May 2017, the European Forum at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem organised for its students various activities to mark the Europe Day. At the organizers’ invitation, Croatian Embassy in Israel took part in the roundtable discussion about the EU at its 60th anniversary. Ms Tina Krce, chargée d"affaires a.i., was a panellist along with the Head of EU Delegation in Tel Aviv and the ambassadors of Italy and Lithuania. The panel’s moderator was dr. Maya Sion-Tzidkiyahu, co-president of the Israeli Association of the Study of European Integration. Discussing with the moderator and students, panellists elaborated on the EU"s and their Member States" views on the historical European "project" of the establishment of such community, common achievements made so far, positive impacts of the membership on the Member States" economies, societies and citizens, especially on youth. They also discussed about Euroscepticism and other challenges the Union has been facing at its 60th anniversary and about the EU-Israeli relations. Among other things, chargée d"affaires a.i. Tina Krce pointed out the specificities of the EU"s newest Member State, Croatia, in the context of new global challenges and trends. She reminded on a difficult path Croatia had to pass from gaining its independence and war to the membership in the EU and NATO, which makes us proud. She emphasised the importance of optimistic approach to common discussions on the Union"s future and its further development, based primarily on common values and idea of unity and solidarity.
