Croatian Ambassador Mrden Korac at the events commemorating the victims of the Holocaust

Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the State of Israel Vesela Mrden Korac attended the events for diplomatic corps in Israel organised on the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day (27 January). Yad Yashem - the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, hosted the central event on 24 January in Jerusalem, with the Israeli Minister of Education Naftali Bennet addressing the diplomatic corps and the Holocaust survivors Ben Ami and Haim Roet participating in the panel. At the event in Kibbutz Tel Yitzhak at the Massuah Institute for Holocaust Studies, on 25 January, the Minister of Energy Yuval Rotem and the Chief of State Protocol Meron Reuben addressed the audience, as well as Prof. Yehuda Bauer, the initiator of IHRA"s definition of antisemitism. Along with presenting the analysis of CNN"s "Antisemitism in Europe" survey, speakers stressed the importance of combating antisemitism and talked about its rising trends across the world. After the speeches, diplomats visited the photo exhibitions and in the end laid white roses in the Hall of Remembrance. On 28 January, together with the Kantor Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry, EU Ambassador to Israel hosted a debate "Antisemitism today – analysis and ways for combating it", at the Tel Aviv University. The event was attended by Prof. Joseph Klafter, President of Tel Aviv University and Itzhak Herzog, Chairman of the Jewish Agency, who invited the Member States to adopt the IHRA working definition of antisemitism, as well as to keep investing in Holocaust education.
