Croatian Heritage Sites on the UNESCO''s List - ExhibitionEMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA PARTICIPATES IN 'DOORS OPEN' JUNE 2nd and 3rd, 2007 with an exhibition of 'Croatian Heritage Sites' on the World Heritage list of UNESCO The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Ottawa is participating in the traditional City of Ottawa 'Doors Open' event, where more than a hundred buildings of architectural and historic significance are opening their doors to the community. Home to the Embassy of Croatia, originally built in 1875, was purchased in 1994 with donations from the Croatian community in Canada. In 1999, the award-wining restoration was completed. Traditional Croatian music and dances were performed by dozens of cultural folklore groups in their rich traditional costumes. Both events drew a large audience of several hundred guests. It was built with stone taken from a quarry near Trogir, Croatia.
