Croatian Heritage Sites on the UNESCO''s List - Exhibition

EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA PARTICIPATES IN 'DOORS OPEN' JUNE 2nd and 3rd, 2007 with an exhibition of 'Croatian Heritage Sites' on the World Heritage list of UNESCO The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Ottawa is participating in the traditional City of Ottawa 'Doors Open' event, where more than a hundred buildings of architectural and historic significance are opening their doors to the community. Home to the Embassy of Croatia, originally built in 1875, was purchased in 1994 with donations from the Croatian community in Canada. In 1999, the award-wining restoration was completed. The City of Ottawa presented the Award of Excellence to the Embassy of Croatia in 2000 for the restoration of the Heritage Building.

As well as displaying the building, the Croatian Embassy is taking this opportunity to show Croatia's cultural heritage to the Canadian public. Visitors can view the exhibition titled 'Croatian Heritage Sites' on the World Heritage list of UNESCO. The exhibition was first shown in 2004 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris and has since been on display in more than 25 countries worldwide. The heritage sites include cities such as Dubrovnik, Split and Trogir as well as the cathedral in Sibenik, the basilica in Porec and the natural heritage Plitvice Lakes National Park.
