Mr. Slobodan Mikac, the Director of Trade and Investment Promotion Agency in Croatia and project leader Mr. Kristian Lesar held presentations for the Canadian Business Community, the Canadian Federal and Provincial Government as well as the Canadian? Croatian Community, on business and investment opportunities available in Croatia. The business seminars were held in Toronto on April 23rd, in Ottawa on April 24th, and in Montreal on April 25th. Mr. Mikac met with the Canadian Minister of International Trade, Hon. David Emerson, and Parliamentary Secretary for Canadian International Development Agency, Mr. Ted Menzies. He also attended a courtesy visit with the Speaker of the Senate, Hon. Noel Kinsella.

Mr. Mikac met with the Canadian Minister of International Trade, Hon. David Emerson, and Parliamentary Secretary for Canadian International Development Agency, Mr. Ted Menzies. He also attended a courtesy visit with the Speaker of the Senate, Hon. Noel Kinsella.
The Federal minister of International Trade discussed the possibility of establishing a mutual fund through which Canada could offer expert advice to Croatia in promoting projects and stimulating trade in mutual investments. The Investment Promotion Agency in Croatia and the Canadian Government aim to target investors and business communities within EU countries. Representatives of the Ontario Ministries of Economy and Trade and representatives of the Quebec Government accepted an invitation to visit the Republic of Croatia and inform Croatia of their planned visit as early as this summer. Of particular interest to the Government of Ontario and Quebec are environmental initiatives such as bio fuel.
The visit was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Ottawa. The Ambassador, Vesela Mrden Korac and the First Secretary for Economy, Mr. Antun Mahnic, participated in the program. The General Consul of the General Consulate of the Republic of Croatia in Mississauga, Mr. Mario Livaja and Consul Ms. Branka Pazin, also co-organized the Toronto seminar.
The visit to Canada was an opportunity to meet with many Croatian Communities, starting on April 20th with a formal yearly traditional dinner hosted by the Croatian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mississauga where Mr. Mikac spoke and along with Ambassador Mrden Korac presented to the recipients of the 2006 award for most successful Canadian businessmen of Croatian origin.
Mr. Mikac arranged for future cooperation with the Croatian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce in broadcasting and promoting investment opportunities. He separately visited the operations and businesses of successful entrepreneurs as well as several Croatian Catholic parishes in Toronto and Montreal.
The Croatian Community Media in Canada frequently interviewed Mr. Slobodan Mikac to broadcast the results of his meetings and presentations in Canada. His visit was also covered by HINA and the Ottawa Citizen newspapers.
