At the beginning of May 2006 the Croatian Film Festival in South Africa is going to be held, organised by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. Six feature movies of recent production will be screened in Johannesburg, leading commercial and cultural centre of South Africa, from 4th to 7th May, 2006, and from 11th to 13th May in the capital city of South Africa - Pretoria.

Six feature movies of recent production will be screened in Johannesburg, leading commercial and cultural centre of South Africa, from 4th to 7th May, 2006, and from 11th to 13th May in the capital city of South Africa - Pretoria. The following films will be screened: «How the War Started on My Island», director Vinko Brešan; «Three Men of Melita Žganjer», director Snježana Tribuson; «When The Dead Start Singing» by Krsto Papic; «Red Dust» by Zrinko Ogresta; «Long, Dark Night» Antun Vrdoljak and «What Iva Recorded on 21st October 2003» by Tomislav Radic. All films have English subtitles. Movies are going to be screened at «Cinema Nouveau», the most prestigious art movie theatres in Johannesburg and Pretoria. Numerous Croats living in South Africa and representatives of the South African media are expected at the opening night of the Croatian Film Festival on 3rd May 2006 in Johannesburg. The Festival has already caused a significant interest of the South African media and audience, even before it began.
