Croatian Ambassador Ivan Picukaric handed on 27 February 2007 in Lusaka his credentials to President of the Republic of Zambia Levy Patrick Mwanawasa, thereby officially assuming the duty of the Croatian ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Zambia seated in Pretoria, the Republic of South Africa.
Ambassador Picukaric and President Mwanawasa pointed out the good and friendly relations between the tow countries and discussed the possibilities of developing economic co-operation.
Ambassador Picukaric also met with Zambian Foreign Minister Mundia Sikatana, to whom he on 26 February 2007 handed the copies of the credentials. Minister Sikatana and Ambassador Picukaric discussed the topics concerning Croatia's road to full EU and NATO membership, as well as the participation in peace-keeping missions around the world, and also reviewed the two countries' potential for the intensification of economic relations.
