On Monday, December 21, 2009 during the official visit of H.E. Mr. Stjepan Mesic, President of the Republic of Croatia to the Sultanate of Oman, the President met the group of Croatian Businessmen and H.E. Mr. Ahmed Macki, Minister of National Economy and Deputy Chairman of Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council.
On Monday, December 21, 2009 during the official visit of H.E. Mr. Stjepan Mesic, President of the Republic of Croatia to the Sultanate of Oman, the President met the group of Croatian Businessmen and H.E. Mr. Ahmed Macki, Minister of National Economy and Deputy Chairman of Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council.
Despite of the existence of 17 Croatian companies making business at Omani market, the trade exchange between both countries amounts approximately 2 million US dollars, and that proves the possibility of enhancing the potentials from both sides.
H.E. the Omani Minister was interested in the field of tourism cooperation in and in the Croatian participation at the infrastructural projects in Oman.
H.E. the Croatian President attended the ceremony of signining the Agreement between the Republic of Croatia and the Sultanate of Oman for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Government of the Sultanate of Oman on cooperation in the filed tourism and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Diplomatic Academy of Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and Diplomatic Institute of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman.
As a main obstacle to the development of the business relations, the visa issuance procedure was highlighted from the Omani side. H.E. the Croatian President informed the Omani hosts about the adoption of the Regulation, by the Government of the Republic of Croatia, regarding that the nationals of the Sultanate of Oman, who are holders of valid diplomatic and service passports, do not require a visa for entering the Republic of Croatia and emphasized the need of liberation of the visa regulation. H.E. the Croatian President visited the Mosque of H.M. Qaboos bin Said al Said launched in 2001 and the Armed Forces Museum. The Croatian President was accompanied by H.E. Mr. Dražen Margeta, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Sultanate of Oman with the seat in Cairo.
