In the beginning of December 2009, the fourth Croatian contingent participating in the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) mission on the Golan Heights assumed its duty for the period of six month. Commander of the fourth Croatian Ground Forces is General Marijan Madejic.
The mandate of the UN peacekeeping forces on Golan Heights is maintaining ceasefire between Israel and Syria, monitoring of the agreed disengagement of the Israeli and Syrian forces, and monitoring of separation line as agreed in the Agreement between Israel and Syria in 1974.
First two Croatian officers were sent to participate in the Mission in May 2008.
On behalf of H.E. Dražen Margeta, non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Syrian Arab Republic Mr. Nissan Khouchaba, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia to the Syrian Arab Republic attended the Ceremony.
