As part of his official visit to the United Arab Emirates, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Jandrokovic met October 27th 2009 in Abu Dhabi with his host, Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash.
Expressing belief that this official visit will provide additional impetus for further strengthening the friendly relations between the Republic of Croatia and the United Arab Emirates, the collocutors also conveyed satisfaction with the arrival of Croatian businessmen, who showed interest in business cooperation with businessmen from the United Arab Emirates.
Given the existing joint interests and complementary economies, the two countries' economic relations were described as very perspective. The main potentials, as well as Croatia's interests in further economic cooperation, lie in construction and infrastructural works, energy, oil and gas industry, food industry, shipbuilding and ship maintenance.
The collocutors exchanged opinions about the state of affairs in the region of South Eastern Europe and the Gulf countries, as well as about the possibilities of military cooperation within the mission to Afghanistan.
They also talked about the signing of the agreement on the avoidance of double taxation and the opening of Croatia's diplomatic and consular representation in one of the Gulf countries.
