The Former Croatian President Mr. Stjepan Mesic was in private visit to Syria from 14 till 17 May 2010. During his visit Mr. Mesic was received by the Syrian President Mr. Bashar al-Assad.

The talks were focused on ways of further promoting bilateral relations, particularly in the economic sector, and on the current situation in the Middle East.
The Former Croatian President Mr. Stjepan Mesic was accompanied by H.E. Mr. Dražen Margeta, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Syrian Arab Republic with the seat in Cairo, Mr. Khouchaba Nissan, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia in Damascus and with Mr. Abdulwahid Abdulwahed, Honorary Consul of the Syrian Arab Republic in Zagreb.
