The collocutors expressed satisfaction with the excellent bilateral relations in all the areas of cooperation. Minister Jandrokovic thanked the United States for continuously supporting Croatia, especially during its EU accession negotiations. He informed his collocutor about the actualities and progress of Croatia's accession process, expressing conviction that the negotiations would be closed during Hungary's current EU presidency. Special Assistant to the President Sherwood-Randall emphasized that the United States full supported Croatia's joining the EU, adding that it would sent a positive signal to all the countries in the region.
Summarizing the bilateral relations, Minister Jandrokovic presented the steps taken on the Croatian part to meet the criteria for liberalizing the visa regime with the United States. He also expressed satisfaction over today's signing of the Air Traffic Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the US Government, concluding that its implementation would positively influence the development of tourist cooperation. Special Assistant Sherwood-Randall agreed, saying she supported our efforts regarding the visa exemption program.
Talking about the economic cooperation, Minister Jandrokovic familiarized Special Assistant Sherwood-Randall agreed with the Regional Conference on Trade and Investment, to be co-organized by the Croatian authorities and the US Embassy to Croatia and held 4-6 April 2011 in Dubrovnik.
The collocutors expressed special satisfaction over the two countries' well-developed and active defence cooperation, on both the bilateral and multilateral level. Special Assistant Sherwood-Randall pointed out the excellent cooperation with and contribution by the Croatian Army members in ISAF.
The meeting also discussed the current political situation in South Eastern Europe, wish special emphasis on the post-election state of affairs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Sherwood-Randall emphasizing that the US appreciated Croatia's constructive role in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Minister Jandrokovic also informed her about the current status of the bilateral relations between Croatia and Serbia, recalling concrete examples of regional cooperation through which Croatia is trying to contribute to peace and stability in this part of Europe.
