Croatian Ambassador Welcomes Congressional Resolutions Supporting Croatia's Speedy Integration Into NATO
The U.S. Senate today adopted Resolution 'S. Res. 342' by unanimous consent recognizing Croatia for significant improvements in strengthening democratic institutions, respect for human rights and the rule of law, and recommended that Croatia be invited to be a full member of NATO at the earliest possible date.
The Croatian Ambassador to the United States Neven Jurica said: “We welcome Senate Resolution 'S. Res. 342' and appreciate Senator George V. Voinovich's leadership in introducing this historic milestone supporting Croatia's speedy integration into NATO and its partnership with the United States. The resolution underscores Croatia's achievements in adopting economic, political and defense reforms as part of its efforts to join the Euro-Atlantic community. It also demonstrates the close cooperation that Croatia has forged with the United States on bilateral and cooperative security fields, including Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI), the war on terror and efforts to stabilize Afghanistan and Iraq.”
“Together with House Resolution 529 introduced on December 14 by Representative Elton Gallegly, with the sponsorship of the co-chairs of the Congressional Croatian Caucus Representatives George P. Radanovich and Peter J. Visclosky, this resolution provides a strong foundation for deepening and expanding the partnership between Croatia and the United States and is a significant step forward in Croatia's integration into NATO. Of particular significance is the bipartisan nature of support for both resolutions, and I look forward to working with members of the House and Senate in furthering our mutual goals,” said Ambassador Jurica.
