Voinovich and Deputy Parliament Speaker Luka Bebic [Photo: Embassy of Croatia] The Deputy Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Luka Bebic, who was at the helm of a three-member parliamentary Delegation held talks with Congressmen Joel Hefley (R-Co) and Elton Gallegly (R-Ca), and Senator George Voinovich (R-Oh) on Croatia‘s efforts to join NATO and American support to Croatia in this process. Bebic described the talks he had held in Washington as friendly and open. On Thursday, the Croatian parliamentary delegation attended the traditional Breakfast Prayer in Washington, at the invitation of Congress. The annual religious event was addressed by U.S. President George W. Bush who spoke about the importance of the freedom of religion in the United States, which he said made everybody equally American regardless of whether they were Christians, Muslims, Jews or atheists. The National Prayer Breakfast was attended by a Croatian parliament delegation, which included Deputy Speaker Luka Bebic, parliamentarians Mario Zubovic, Frano Matušic, and Vesna škulic, Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic, Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) leader and Osijek Mayor Ante ?apic, and Croatia's Ambassador to the USA, Neven Jurica. Note: The National Prayer Breakfast is held every year on the first Thursday in February and is attended by many U.S. and foreign politicians and religious leaders.
