Rab - the City of Art - lecture and a book launch
The Chief Conservator at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia in Zagreb Mr Miljenko Domijan held an interesting lecture about the island of Rab at the Croatian Embassy in London on 21st February 2008. The lecture, which was illustrated by the photographs of the island of Rab and particularly the City of Rab, served as an example of the similar heritage projects along the Croatian coast.

The Chief Conservator at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia in Zagreb Mr Miljenko Domijan held an interesting lecture about the island of Rab at the Croatian Embassy in London on 21st February 2008. The lecture, which was illustrated by the photographs of the island of Rab and particularly the City of Rab, served as an example of the similar heritage projects along the Croatian coast. Mr Domijan talked about the continuity of the urban planning in Rab from the Roman times until today as well as about its rich cultural and artistic heritage. Following the historic overview, Mr Domijan spoke about the restoration of monuments with a specific look at the British-Croatian links. In this context he spoke of the important role played by the architect and painter T. G. Jackson. Inspired by the architecture of the church-tower in Rab, T.G. Jackson draw up plans for the bell-tower of the cathedral in Zadar which was built according to his drawings in 1891. Mr Domijan also spoke about ties between de Dominis and England. The lecture ended with beautiful views of the island of Rab.
