On Friday 6th May 2016, the European Parliament celebrated Europe Day in Cork for the first time. Members of the European Parliament from the South Constituency, embassies and consulates were present at the ceremony, which received extraordinarily broad media coverage. Europe Day welcomed many high school students, who displayed substantial knowledge of Europe and great curiosity in their talks with the Irish MEPs. The Croatian Embassy was represented by the Croatian ambassador, Ivan Mašina. His visit to Cork was an opportunity to promote Croatian tourism before the upcoming tourist season as well as to meet and talk to MEPs.
