Ireland Francophonie Ambassadors’ Literary Award

The 20 embassies of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (IOF) took part in the organisation of the Eastern Rising Centenary celebrations in Ireland and the Month of La Francophonie with over 30 events between March 1st and April 6th. The Ireland Francophonie Ambassadors’ Literary Award Ceremony, for the first time in 2016, took place on April 12th at the National Library in Dublin. The jury of the Francophonie Ambassadorial Prize was composed of 20 ambassadors whose embassies are members of the OIF. These include the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Croatia, Egypt, Estonia, France, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, Ukraine and United Arab Emirates. The Irish writer Mr John Banville was awarded The Ambassadorial Prize for his novel Ancient Lights, recently translated into French under the title La Lumiere des étoiles mortes. Mr Ivan Mašina, the Croatian Ambassador to Ireland, participated in the event as a member of the jury.
