Croatian Embassy in Israel marked the 28th anniversary of the international recognition of the Republic of Croatia and launched the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union

The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in the State of Israel marked the twenty eighth anniversary of the Croatian international recognition and launched the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, in Tel Aviv on January 15, 2020. On this occasion, the Embassy of Croatia organized a reception, which brought together numerous dignitaries and high representatives of the Israeli state; representatives of non-governmental organizations and institutions; business, academic, cultural and media life; Israeli nationals originating from Croatia; Ambassadors of the EU, the Eastern Partnership, the Western Balkans States and others. The guests were greeted by the Croatian Ambassador Vesela Mrden Korac and the Head of the EU Delegation in Israel, Ambassador Emanuele Giaufret. Ambassador Mrden Korac emphasized the path that Croatia has passed from the day of international recognition in 1992 through the EU accession to the Presidency of the Council of the EU, outlining the priorities of the Croatian Presidency, with an emphasis on the areas that could serve as a platform for further strengthening of the EU-Israeli relations. The Ambassador also highlighted the upcoming challenges such as the Brexit and the negotiations on the Multiannual Financial Framework for the perspective 2021-27 and special importance that Croatia attaches to its neighborhood and the enlargement process. The Ambassador emphasized that Croatia succeeded to include into the agenda of its Presidency, a special event dedicated to the fight against anti-Semitism, which will be organized in Zagreb and Jasenovac in May of 2020. The event will be organized together with Yad Vashem and the Ambassador expressed her gratitude to Yad Vashem for the initiative and cooperation in this regard. Ambassador Giaufret emphasized the remarkable success that Croatia has made from the war-thorn state to the current leading role in Europe, as he personally witnessed the situation at the beginning of the 90tees, working for the OSCE mission in Zagreb. He expressed confidence that the Croatian Presidency would be very successful and would bring new positive dynamics to the EU. During the reception the first samples of Croatian wines and food products, that are planned to be exported by the Orbico group and Bura Consulting and Trade into the Israeli market, were served. The products included: wines from the Ilocki podrumi; Feravino-Osilovac; Zigante/Istarska Malvazija; Kosher wines from Agrolaguna Porec as well as food products from: Sana-delikatese; Pelagos Net Farm and Zigante Tartufi. Croatian products have attracted special attention and complimented by the guests.
