1. SIGNATURE CERTIFICATION - Personal presence required!
 
To certify the signature, it is necessary to submit a document proving Croatian citizenship (valid identity card or valid passport) to the Embassy.
 
2. CENTRAL REGISTRY
 
2.1. Reporting the fact of marriage to the State Registry of the Republic of Croatia
To register a marriage in the State Registry of the Republic of Croatia, it is necessary to submit the original of the marriage certificate from the relevant registry office, with the corresponding translation into Croatian language, certified by an apostille stamp. It is also necessary to enclose a copy of the identification document, as well as proof of Croatian citizenship of one of the spouses. The form "Registration of marriage", which is available in the Forms section, should also be filled in and submitted.
 
2.2. Registration of the fact of a child's birth in the State Registry of the Republic of Croatia
To register a child birth in the State Registry of the Republic of Croatia, it is necessary to submit the original birth certificate from the relevant registry office, with the corresponding translation into Croatian language, certified by an apostille stamp. It is also necessary to enclose a copy of the identification document, as well as proof of Croatian citizenship of one of the parents. The "Child Registration" form, which is available in the Forms section, should also be completed and submitted.
 
There is no consular fee for registering child's birth.
 
2.3. Reporting the fact of death to the State Registry of the Republic of Croatia
To report a death to the state registries of the Republic of Croatia, it is necessary to submit the original death certificate from the relevant registry office with the corresponding translation into Croatian language, certified by an apostille stamp. It is also necessary to enclose a copy of the identification document, as well as proof of Croatian citizenship of the deceased. The "Death Report" form, which is available in the Forms section, should also be completed and submitted.
 
2.4. Excerpts from the registry of births, marriages and deaths of the Republic of Croatia
In order to obtain Extracts from the State Registry of the Republic of Croatia, it is necessary to fill in and submit a form, which is available in the Forms section. Delivery takes several weeks, depending on the registry office where the requested extract is issued.
 
It is also possible to access the e-Matica service via the e-Citizens system, which enables the review of data from State Registry and citizens' books, as well as their creation and printing. Documents obtained in this way can be used in legal transactions.

3. CITIZENSHIP
 
To obtain Croatian citizenship, it is necessary to fill in the form "Application and questionnaire for acquiring citizenship", which is available in the section Forms, attach a CV, and submit the following documents:
• an old public document from which it is evident that the party declared itself as Croatian (work book, military book, certificate, index, etc.). If there is no "Ethnicity" section in the mentioned documents, it is still necessary to submit copies of the same, as well as public documents of the parents proving their affiliation with the Croatian people.
• birth certificate
• marriage certificate (if the party is in a marital union), not older than 6 months
• a certified copy of a valid identification document (driver's license, passport or similar)
• if the request of the parents also includes minor children, the consent of the other parent is required, as well as a birth certificate for each minor child. Children over the age of 14 must give written consent.
• certificate of no criminal record, translated and notarized.
 
Note: All documents in a foreign language must be stamped with an apostille and translated in Croatian language.

3.1. Termination of citizenship
Citizenship of the Republic of Croatia ceases in case of:
• dismissal
• by waiver
• under international agreements
Release from Croatian citizenship may be granted to a person who has submitted a request for release and meets the prescribed conditions. The tasks related to the release from Croatian citizenship are performed by the Ministry of the Interior and all information and forms are available at: http://www.mup.hr/39.aspx
 
4. ISSUING OF CERTIFICATE OF RESIDENCE AND WORK
 
To obtain a certificate of residence and work abroad, it is necessary to submit to the Embassy a copy of proof of Croatian citizenship, a copy of a valid identification document (Croatian or foreign passport), a copy of certificate of residence in the Republic of Kazakhstan (visa, registration, tax certificate, employer's certificate). The form "Application for the issuance of a certificate of residence abroad" is available in the Forms section.
 
The deadline for using the privilege in question (for importing household items) is 12 months, and it is calculated from the date of relocation or return of the beneficiary to the Republic of Croatia, indicated in the statement given in front of the notary public in the Republic of Croatia.

5. ISSUING DOCUMENTS FOR THE TRANSFER OF MORTAL REMAINS IN THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA
 
In order to issue a document for the transfer of mortal remains to the Republic of Croatia, it is necessary to submit the following documents to the Embassy:
• identification document of the deceased person,
• a medical certificate of death indicating the cause of death
• excerpt from the register of the deceased person
• proof of citizenship of the deceased
• name and surname of the person accompanying the body of the deceased person
• data on the carrier (aircraft, car, etc.),
• confirmation of the cemetery on the place of burial (for non-Croatian citizens only)
 
For the transit of a deceased person through the Republic of Croatia Embassy’s document is not needed. The transfer of the urn with the ashes of the deceased person is done without the Embassy’s document too, but it is necessary to present a certificate from the crematorium on cremation.

INFORMATION ON THE CONDITIONS OF ENTRY OF DOGS AND CATS IN CROATIA
 
Dogs accompanied by owners, which are transported through the territory of the Republic of Croatia and those temporarily staying in Croatia, must, before entering the country, be marked with a microchip or clearly legible tattooed number, which must be entered in the traveling certificate (i.e. a valid EU pet passport issued in accordance with applicable European Union legislation).
 
If the dogs are marked with a microchip that does not comply with the criteria set by Croatian regulations, i.e. EU regulations, the owner must provide an appropriate chip reader to read the identification number from the microchip.
 
Dogs imported into the territory of Croatia for the purpose of permanent residence, and not marked with a microchip, must be marked with a microchip within 15 days from the day of entry into the country.
 
A document on veterinary health conditions for the import of the Croatian Veterinary Administration is not required for pets (dogs, cats, ornamental and exotic birds, guinea pigs, hamsters, etc.) if:
1. they are not intended for resale and remain the property of the importer;
2. they are accompanied by a prescribed international animal health certificate or veterinary certificate (or a valid EU passport for pets), in which the competent authority of the exporting country certifies that:
a) the animals are healthy and do not show a suspicion of notifiable communicable diseases and do not originate in areas where contagious diseases which may be transmitted by that species prevail;
b) dogs marked in accordance with Croatian law;
c) dogs vaccinated against rabies:
• not less than 6 months ago and not more than one year before dispatch in case of primary vaccination, which should be carried out when the animal was at least 3 months old;
• not more than one year ago in the case of each subsequent ("booster") vaccination;
• with a dead strain of the rabies virus.
 
The import and temporary stay on the territory of Croatia of potentially dangerous dogs of the bull terrier breed that are not entered in the register of the International Kennel Club (FCI) (pit bull terriers) and their crosses is prohibited.
 
In the city of Zagreb (and similar conditions and manner of keeping dogs were adopted elsewhere in Croatia) it is determined that on the street, public area, parks, and in the rooms that serve the building as a whole (staircase, entrance, elevator, yard, etc.) dogs must be lead on a leash so as not to endanger the safety and health of people and other animals.
 
Dogs that are dangerous to human safety due to their innate traits and aggressive instinct or training, especially Dobermans, American Staffordshire Terriers, Bull Terriers, Pit Bull Terriers, Rottweilers, Great Danes, German and Belgian Shepherds, Japanese fighting dogs, great Japanese Spitz, Mastiffs, Sharps and their crosses, must, in public areas, be led on a leash, and with a muzzle. Exceptionally, Dogue de Bordeaux and Neapolitan Mastiffs are kept, may be on a public surface on a leash, but without a muzzle.
 
INFORMATION ON THE PROCEDURE OF REPLACING A FOREIGN DRIVING LICENSE WITH THE CROATIAN ONE
 
To obtain a Croatian driver's license on the basis of a foreign driver's license, one should submit the application to the relevant police administration, i.e. police station according to the place of residence, together with a foreign driver's license, translation of a foreign driver's license (not expired for more than six months), a certificate of mental and physical ability to drive vehicles, (not older than six months), and two photographs of 30mm x 35mm.
