Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of South Africa H. E. Mr. Ivan Picukaric handed over on 18th January 2006 the letter of recall of his predecessor and his letter of credence to H. E. Mr. Thabo Mbeki, President of the Republic of South Africa.

Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of South Africa H. E. Mr. Ivan Picukaric handed over on 18th January 2006 the letter of recall of his predecessor and his letter of credence to H. E. Mr. Thabo Mbeki, President of the Republic of South Africa. The ceremonial unit of the South African National Defence Forces gave the Ambassador the honourary salute. The festive event was accompanied by the representatives of the South African media. In his brief speech, Ambassador Picukaric put an emphasis on very good bilateral relations between Croatia and South Africa. He stressed that the Croatian community living in South Africa and numerous South Africans visiting Croatia every year as tourists play a particular role in it. From Croatian side counsellor Marinko Raos, Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Pretoria witnessed the event, and from the South African side rev. Frank Chikane, Head of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic, his deputy dr. Sookal, Head of the State Protocol Ambassador Bil Modise and others.
