Visa Categories:
  • Short-term visa (visa C) - approval for transit through or intended stay in the territory of Croatia for a duration of no more than 90 days in any 180-day period;
  • Airport-transit (visa A) - approval for transit through the international transit area of Croatian airports;
  • Long-term visa (visa D) - issued to a third-country national who has been granted temporary stay or issued stay and work permit, and requires a short-term visa to enter the Republic of Croatia.
Enclosed documents for a short-term visa (visa C)
It is issued for one, two or more entries for transit, tourist, business, private or other purposes.
The validity period of a visa depends on the circumstances of traveling and cannot exceed five years.
The possession of a visa is not a guarantee of entry into Croatia. Other legal requirements must also be met. The third-country national may not work in the territory of Croatia based on a short-term visa (visa C) alone.
Short-term visa (visa C) application shall be submitted prior to the entry into Croatia, at the competent Embassy/Consulate. If there is no Croatian Embassy/Consulate in the applicant's country, the application may be submitted at the nearest Croatian Embassy/Consulate.
Short-term visa (visa C) application shall be submitted in person. Exceptionally and in justified cases, a visa applicant does not need to file the application personally, but he/she shall present himself/herself when called upon by the Embassy/Consulate.
Visa applications for minors or persons deprived of their business capacity shall be submitted by their legal representative.
Visa application shall be submitted no more than six months, and for seafarers in the performance of their duties no more than nine months, before the start of the intended trip, and, as a rule, no later than 15 calendar days before the start of the intended trip.
Each visa applicant shall enclose following documents with the application:
  • valid travel document
    • the validity period of the travel document should exceed that of the visa by three months
    • travel document must be issued in the previous 10 years
    • travel document must contain at least two empty pages for the visa
  • a 35x45 mm colour photo
  • evidence of travel health insurance
  • evidence of paid visa fee
  • documents that prove:
    • the purpose of the stay in Croatia
    • ensured accommodation
    • means of subsistence to cover the stay in Croatia and the return to the country of origin or to a third country
    • means of transport and the intention to return to the applicant's country of origin or to a third country.
Enclosed documents for a long-term visa (visa D)
Issued to a third-country national who has been granted temporary stay or issued stay and work permit, and requires a short-term visa to enter the Republic of Croatia.
Long-term visa (visa D) is issued for one (1) or multiple (MULT) entries, with the period of validity no longer than six months and for maximum 30-days' stay.
Application shall be submitted prior to the entry into Croatia, at the competent Embassy/Consulate. If there is no Croatian Embassy/Consulate in the applicant's country, the application may be submitted at the nearest Croatian Embassy/Consulate.
Long-term visa (visa D) application shall be submitted in person. Exceptionally and in justified cases, a visa applicant does not need to file the application personally, but he/she shall present himself/herself when called upon by the Embassy/Consulate.

Long-term visa (visa D) application shall be submitted no sooner than two months before and no later than two months after the beginning of validity of temporary stay or the issued stay and work permit in Croatia
The possession of a long-term visa (visa D) is not a guarantee of entry into Croatia. Other legal requirements must also be met.
When applying for a long-term visa (visa D), the applicant shall enclose the following documents:
  • filled in and personally signed prescribed long-term visa (type D) application form
  • valid travel document:
    • travel document must be issued in the previous 10 years
    • travel document must contain at least two empty pages for the visa
    • with validity at least three months longer than the validity of the granted temporary stay or issued stay and work permit
  • a 35x45 mm colour photo
  • evidence of granted temporary stay or issued stay and work permit in the Republic of Croatia:
    • Long-term visa (visa D) application shall be submitted no sooner than two months before and no later than two months after the beginning of validity of temporary stay or the issued stay and work permit in Croatia
  • travel health insurance
  • evidence of paid visa fee.
