World Humanitarian Day marked

Today, on August 19th, we mark the World Humanitarian Day in honour of those who face danger in order to selflessly help others.

The UN General Assembly decided that the World Humanitarian Day be commemorated on the day of the 2003 bomb attack on the UN headquarters in Baghdad that had killed 22 staff members.

As a responsible donor country, Croatia joins the marking of the World Humanitarian Day by promoting humanitarian and solidarity values, which it has also shown as a new EU member by sending fire-fighting planes to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As the competent body, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs plans, coordinates and implements the government’s policy of humanitarian assistant to developing countries and supports the work of UN humanitarian agencies and NGOs.
