The US Senate has unanimously and with no amendment adopted the draft of the resolution that congratulates the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Albania on receiving the NATO invitations on opening the accession negotiations, and expresses the Senate’s support for further NATO enlargement

The US Senate has unanimously and with no amendment adopted the draft of the resolution that congratulates the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Albania on receiving the NATO invitations on opening the accession negotiations, and expresses the Senate’s support for further NATO enlargement.

The resolution is a confirmation of the historical importance of and the achievements the two countries have made during the past years, proving their dedication to the joint security and values of NATO members. The Senate also expresses strong support for a timely completion of Croatia and Albania’s NATO accession processes.

The main sponsor of the resolution was Senator George Voinovich, with support from the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Joe Biden, Republican member of the same Committee, Senator Richard Lugar, and Democratic Senator Joseph Lieberman.
