UN Security Council held consultations over North Korea’s nuclear test
All of the Security Council’s members, including the Republic of Croatia, harshly condemned North Korea’s nuclear test
All of the Security Council’s members, including the Republic of Croatia, harshly condemned North Korea’s nuclear test, warning that said act represents a serious threat to the peace and security of the Korean peninsula and flies in the face of the international community’s WMD non-proliferation efforts.
The Security Council members pointed out that the relevant UN resolutions (1695 and 1718) are also being violated, inviting North Korea to go back to negotiations, as dialogue and consultations are the only way to reach a permanent solution. They also expressed readiness to rapidly begin working on a new Security Council resolution.
