The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs 30 March hosted multilateral consultations between Deputy FM Sergiy Kyslytsya and a Croatian delegation headed by Assistant FM Vesna Batistić-Kos. The consultations aimed to contribute to the advancement of Croatian-Ukrainian cooperation in multilateral organizations and determine the priority areas for the development of bilateral cooperation. On the fringes of the conference, talks were held on cooperation within NATO, international missions and operations as well as development cooperation.

The Ukrainian side expressed interest in Croatia’s experiences and know-how gathered during the Homeland War and post-war activities, notably the UNTAES and the peaceful reintegration of Podunavlje. The Ukrainian officials were also interested in the rehabilitation and social and economic reintegration of soldiers, as well as the protection of women, children and cultural heritage during combat.

In response to Ukraine’s interest, a pilot project was held of transferring the know-how and experiences to representatives of the competent state bodies in the process of refugee and displaced persons management.

Batistić-Kos also held talks with Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) to Ukraine Alexander Hug, UNHCR Deputy Regional Representative Vanno Noupech, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Inita Paulovica, and EUAM Ukraine Head of Mission Kalman Mizsei.
