Tonino Picula, the Croatian Foreign Minister, talked more than an hour with Mr. Cro Cop Mirko Filipović

Today, Mr. Tonino Picula, the Croatian Foreign Minister, talked more than an hour with Mr. Cro Cop Mirko Filipović, the Croatian ultimate fighter.

Minister Picula thanked Mr. Mirko Filipović on the success he has achieved in ultimate fighting and thanked him for what he has done for the Republic of Croatia. The Minister emphasised that Croatia is not only promoted through diplomatic missions, but it is also very successfully promoted by its sportsmen.

Mr. Cro Cop Mirko Filipović informed the Minister of his path toward the top in sport and expressed his efforts and the wish to promote the Republic of Croatia in the world by his achievements in sport. He talked of his passion for martial arts and advised the Minister on the popularity of ultimate fighting in the world. He pointed out his experiences from Japan where there is the largest ultimate fighting organisation called Pride.

Minister Picula emphasised the importance of economic diplomacy for our country and described some of his diplomatic experiences from Japan. During his last official visit to Japan, he offered Japanese businessmen 30 different Croatian economic projects. On this occasion, Minister Picula offered Mr. Mirko Filipović the possibility of joint cooperation in the field of economic diplomacy.

This is the first of several meetings to be held between Minister Picula and Mr. Filipović until the end of this year in which specific economic projects will be realised.
