Tonino Picula, the Croatian Foreign Minister, met with Mr. Cyril Svoboda

On 29 August 2003, Mr. Tonino Picula, the Croatian Foreign Minister, met with Mr. Cyril Svoboda, Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, who is in one-day working visit to the Republic of Croatia.

Both Ministers agreed that our traditionally good relations are in an upward trend, although economic cooperation lags behind the political one. One of the indicators for this is a large number of Czech tourists spending their holidays in Croatia.

On this occasion, the importance of Euro-Atlantic integration for our two countries was emphasised . Considering their membership in NATO and successfully terminated negotiations on the accession to the EU, the Czech Minister pointed out that the Czech Republic is ready to share its experiences related to the access to Euro-Atlantic integration, and added that the acceding countries are not to stall with fulfilling commitments they undertook, regardless of how hard they seem.

Minister Svoboda invited Minister Picula to a return visit.
