The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs organized international francophone seminar titled “Economic and Financial Governance of the EU since the Onset of the Crisis”

The three-day seminar started 2 October with opening addresses by Head of the Public Diplomacy Service Zvonimir Frka-Petešić and First Counsellor at the French Embassy to Croatia Clélie Chevrier.

This is the 11th in line of the seminars traditionally organized on a topical European subject by the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in cooperation with Strasbourg’s National School of Administration (ENA) and under the auspices of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF).

The goal of this year’s seminar is to present new tendencies in regulating the European Union’s economic and financial issues. Lectures will deal with the causes of the financial crisis, institutional mechanisms of the EU for the regulation of financial services, financing issues and the 2014-2020 budget talks, as well as how the new regulations and the crisis affect the member states’ economy. Apart from discussions with French experts, the attendees will also take part in a day-long simulation.

The lecturers are experts from the French and the EU academic institutions. The seminar is geared towards diplomats dealing with said issues, as well as all interested civil servants from Croatia and the countries of East and Southeast Europe. This year there are 21 attendees, including people from Montenegro, Estonia, Hungary, Macedonia, Romania, and Slovakia.

The seminar will be held entirely in French and will end 4 October with the handing out of attendance certificates.
