The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs hosted an international meeting on the mitigation of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats

Assistant Minister Vesna Batistić Kos 4 October 2012 opened at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs the fourth meeting of national representatives of the UNICRI CBRN CoE Initiative (Centre of Excellence for the mitigation of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats launched by the EU and the UN).

The fourth meeting of national representatives from the group of Southeast Europe, Caucasus, Moldova and Ukraine gathered 30 foreign participants and 10 representatives of Croatian institutions. It was organized to strengthen the cooperation between the region’s countries, EU and UN partners, and other relevant international organizations dealing with the mitigation of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.

The participants reported on the status of the Initiative’s implementation in their countries, while the representatives of UNICRI CBRN CoE presented the guidelines for future development.

The afternoon panel discussion worked out the methodology of drawing up projects that the countries can continually submit to UNICRI CBRN CoE and for which substantial financial means are foreseen.
