Support for unity, solidarity and stronger cooperation among CEI member states
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs on Thursday attended an informal meeting of foreign ministers of the Central European Initiative (CEI), held on the margins of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
Ministers exchanged views on further support to Ukraine and ways to overcome the energy crisis and address supply chain disruption as well as on the contribution that the CEI could make to the EU-integration agenda, in light of Ukraine and Moldova having been granted the candidate status.
Grlić Radman underscored the need for unity, solidarity and stronger cooperation among CEI member states, both in terms of aiding Ukraine and in finding solutions for supply security and energy and food price stabilization.
“Croatia has shown solidarity with Ukraine by offering various forms of assistance. As of September, we have also received some 20 000 refugees,” he said, underlining the importance of continuing the support. Concerning the energy crisis, the minister highlighted the importance of the LNG terminal at Krk and the Ionian-Adriatic Gas Pipeline. He also underlined the importance of Croatia’s position in the development of solidarity corridors for the transport of grains from Ukraine.
“Croatia fully supports the EU aspirations of the Western Balkan countries, as well as those of Ukraine and Moldova – CEI member states that have recently become EU candidates,” Grlić Radman said.
Later in the day, the minister is due to attend a meeting of the International Partnership for Information and Democracy in New York.
