State Secretary for European Integration Željko Kuprešak received on 7 April 2008 Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Yeliseyev, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Croatia

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the two countries’ very good relations, with no open issues between them. The two collocutors confirmed that a high level of co-operation has been reached and expressed a wish for its further strengthening.

The Ukrainian side showed great interest in Croatia’s experience in the EU accession process and membership negotiations. Croatian diplomats were offered to attend the Diplomatic Academy at the Ukrainian ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two collocutors reviewed and exchanged opinions about the situation in the region. State Secretary Kuprešak pointed out that Croatia will continue to play an active and constructive role in the region, advocating permanent stability and security as a common interest. Last week in Bucharest, Croatia received a NATO membership invitation, is at an advanced stage in the EU membership negotiations, and a member of the UN Security Council, by which it contributes, in addition to other prominent roles in the international community, to the strengthening of stability in South Eastern Europe, said State Secretary Kuprešak.
