State Secretary Željko Kuprešak received French Ambassador M. François Saint-Paul

State Secretary for European Integration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Željko Kuprešak received 11 August 2008 the Ambassador of the French Republic to the Republic of Croatia, M. François Saint-Paul

The meeting primarily focused on the process of Croatia’s EU accession, while Ambassador Saint-Paul commended Croatia for its progress in the negotiations, expressing hope for their completion by end-2009.

Regarding the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty, Ambassador Saint-Paul said that is important that Chile, as the next EU presiding country, ratifies it before assuming the presidency, as it would thus prove its consistency in solving the EU institutional framework.

Speaking about Croatia’s position on the current situation in Georgia, State Secretary Kuprešak pointed out that Croatia has joined the joint EU statement and called for all of the sides to continue with the negotiations so as to find a lasting solution to the newly-risen crisis.
