State Secretary Pejčinović Burić met with Bulgarian Parliament’s delegation
On Monday, 6 February 2006, at the Croatian Parliament, State Secretary for European Integration at the MFAEI Marija Pejčinović Burić met with the delegation of the Bulgarian Parliament, Narodno Sobranje, led by its President Georgi Pirinski
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the good relations between Croatia and Bulgaria. State Secretary Pejčinović Burić congratulated President Pirinski on entering NATO and the future EU membership – goals that Croatia as well is aspiring to. She also talked about Croatia’s preparations for the EU and reported in short about the progress of Croatia’s EE accession negotiation, pointing out the usefulness of experience exchange.
President Pirinski stressed that in the negotiations process it is most important to have a well thought out and comprehensible strategy, so that the public could be informed timely and in a quality manner about all of the changes that the negotiations are bringing about. He pointed out that Bulgaria had difficulties in the area of the free movement of capital, free services and energetics.
State Secretary Pejčinović Burić said that a national consensus of the parliamentary parties was achieved in Croatia on the issues concerning the EU, and that a committee was formed to monitor the accession negotiations. She pointed out that the Croatian Parliament had also adopted the Communication Strategy for Informing the Croatian Public on Croatia’s Approaching the European Integration.
