State Secretary for Europe Andreja Metelko-Zgombić on Tuesday held a short videoconference with Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Arnoldas Pranckevičius on the occasion of his assuming office.

The two officials underscored good bilateral relations. Metelko-Zgombić thanked Pranckevičius for Lithuania’s solidarity and assistance in the wake of last year’s earthquakes in Croatia. They exchanged information on the epidemiological situation in their respective countries, agreeing that respecting the vaccine distribution dynamic was crucial not only for the ambitious vaccination plans, but for the normalization of life as well. The two officials also exchanged views on other current EU affairs: national recovery and resilience plans, energy connectivity, Croatia’s readiness to enter the Schengen Area, as well as the importance of continuing the enlargement policy towards Europe’s Southeast, with special emphasis on Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, Metelko-Zgombić and Pranckevičius exchanged views on the EU-Russia relations and the situation in Ukraine and Belarus.
