State Secretary Metelko-Zgombić holds consultations at Belgian MFA

State Secretary for European Affairs Andreja Metelko-Zgombić 19 March in Brussels held political consultations with Dirk Achten, the Secretary General at Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation for the Kingdom of Belgium

State Secretary for European Affairs Andreja Metelko-Zgombić 19 March in Brussels held political consultations with Dirk Achten, the Secretary General at Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation for the Kingdom of Belgium.

The two officials underlined the importance of bilateral dialogue and cooperation between Croatia and Belgium, notably in regard to Croatia’s preparations for Council of the EU presidency. They pointed out positive trends in trade and the increase in tourist visits, and exchanged opinions about the current European topics and their respective countries’ foreign-policy priorities. Metelko-Zgombić and Achten also talked about the EU enlargement and the accession process’ transformative influence on the prosperity of states and societies, economic and overall reform. They agreed on continuing the systematic dialogue. Metelko-Zgombić informed her Belgian colleague about the status of Croatia’s preparations for entering the Schengen Area and Eurozone.
