State Secretary Gordan Bakota met in Bratislava with Slovakian Foreign Minister Ivan Korčok

State Secretary at the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gordan Bakota visited today, 3 September 2004, the Slovakian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was received by Slovakian Foreign Minister Ivan Korčok and Head of the Civil Service Authority Miroslav Mojžita

State Secretary Bakota talked with the hosts about the process of Croatia’s approaching the EU and NATO, as well as about the changes in the structure and organisation of the state administration bodies that need to be implemented before joining the EU.

The state officials of the Republic of Slovakia, which is a member of both the EU and NATO, shared with Bakota their experience in organisation, whereby they consider the legal basis to be the most important, in Slovakia represented by the State Officials Act.

In an open and friendly talk, the Slovakian side offered to transfer its experiences, especially in organising the negotiations with the EU, and suggested a close co-operation between the two ministries. Special emphasis was placed on harmonising the Ministry with the EU standards and regulations.
