State Secretary for European Integration Željko Kuprešak participated in 118th session of CoE Committee of Ministers

State Secretary for European Integration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Željko Kuprešak participated in the 118th session of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers, held 7 May 2008 in Strasbourg

At the session dedicated to the Council of Europe’s contribution to the stability and security in Europe, the member countries’ foreign ministers reviewed the Council’s priorities, including the consolidation of the European human rights protection system, relations between CoE and the EU, as well as the strengthening of democracy, good management and rule of law in member countries.

State Secretary Kuprešak reminded about the Council of Europe’s important role in the democratization of South Eastern Europe, pointing out that the Council should focus its activities onto the areas of its special expertise – human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. He also supported the further improvement of the European human rights protection system.
