State Secretary for Political Affairs Zdravka Bušić 5 and 6 December 2019 in Bratislava attended a meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council

State Secretary for Political Affairs Zdravka Bušić 5 and 6 December 2019 in Bratislava attended a meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council. The meeting focused on the Ukrainian crisis and other security threats within the OSCE’s domain.

Addressing the event, Bušić thanked Slovakia for chairing the OSCE this year and assuming responsibility for the security and stability in its area. She voiced concern over the situation in Ukraine, underscoring support for the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission there. She also reflected on the human dimension of the organization, which is under increasing pressure due to deteriorating status of human rights in its area. Bušić highlighted the growing mistrust among countries, which is beginning to affect both the European and global order, stressing that during its EU presidency Croatia would also focus on strengthening multilateralism. She underlined the importance of the OSCE field missions in Southeast Europe, notably the one in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and conveyed Croatia’s views on the situation in the country.

On the margins of the meeting, Bušić held bilateral talks with OSCE PA President George Tsereteli and Secretary General Roberto Montella, as well as with Andorran Foreign Minister Maria Ubach Font.

The Bratislava meeting marked the end of Slovakia’s OSCE chairmanship, which is to be taken over in 2020 by Albania.
