State Secretary at the Croatian MFA Hido Biščević met with the Secretary General at the Belgian MFA Jan Grauls

State Secretary at the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hido Biščević met today, 2 June 2004, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Zagreb, with the Secretary General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium, Jan Grauls

The meeting discussed Croatia’s European perspective, the pending meeting of the European Council 17-18 June, and the co-operation between the countries in the region. State Secretary Biščević familiarised his guest with the Croatian government’s foreign policy goals and priorities in the coming period. Secretary General Grauls congratulated the Croatian side on its achievements in the process of approaching the EU, expressing his conviction about the positive European Council’s Opinion regarding Croatia’s candidate status and the start of the negotiations with the EU. Secretary General Grauls find extremely important the consistent policy of co-operation in the region, which the EU expected of Croatia, as a country with such marked European aspirations. In this context, Secretary General Grauls confirmed the Kingdom of Belgium’s support to the Republic of Croatia.
