State Secretary for Political Issues at the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hido Biščević held today, 11 May 2004, in Ankara, regular political consultations with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey Baki Ilkin
The importance of the two countries’ role in further stabilisation of the relations in South East Europe, based on positive Croatia and Turkey’s contribution to the calming of the crisis and bringing an end to the war in ex-Yugoslavia. Both sides confirmed their readiness to continue, in new political circumstances and confirming their European orientation and responsibility towards EU and NATO, to positively contribute to the spreading of the democratic processes and good neighbourly policy in the region.
It was confirmed that the recent meetings between high officials opened the road to such activities. Both sides are convinced that the visit by Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan to Zagreb and his talks with Prime Minister Sanader due late 2004, early 2004 will give a new incentive to the enhancement of the bilateral co-operation.
