Pursuant to Succession Agreement, MFAEI commission took over former SFRY diplomatic building in Oslo

This represents the continuation of the process of taking over real estate of the diplomatic and consular representations of the former SFRY

The purpose of the building, with its 380 square meters of space on the accompanying 3080 square meters, is to be decided on once its value and possible reconstruction costs are estimated.

This represents the continuation of the process of taking over real estate of the diplomatic and consular representations of the former SFRY, pursuant to the 2006 resolution by the Joint Succession Committee allotting 44 pieces of real estate from the so-called “OECD region”, of which Croatia is to assume 10. The agreement reached at the meeting of the Joint Succession Committee in May this year determined the timeframe for taking over the 10 pieces of real estate, which were or largely still are owned by the Republic of Serbia.

Apart from the two Trieste apartments taken over early-July this year, the embassy in Vienna taken over in August and the Oslo residence taken over yesterday, Croatia is to assume ownership of three more pieces of real estate by the end of the year (the embassy building in Lisbon, and residences in Madrid and Helsinki).

The Republic of Croatia will continue to put forth efforts to speed up the succession process and the apportionment of the diplomatic-consular property of the former SFRY, in accordance with the agreement and the arranged principles among all of the successive countries.

The last meeting of the Joint Succession Committee, held last month in Sarajevo, agreed in principal that the following meeting be held in December this year in Zagreb.
