Regarding the statements by certain Czech media advising the Czech citizens against travelling to Croatia because of a recent incident in Dubrovnik, in which director Jiří Menzel was attack, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration would like to express its deepest regret over this inappropriate act, pointing out that this is an isolated incident with, luckily, no serious consequences

Director Menzel did not even file a report to the Croatian police, but the officers nevertheless interrogated the café owner who attacked Menzel, as well as some of his filming crew.

We would like to reiterate that all foreign citizens, which means the Czech as well, are welcome in Croatia, and that all the measures required to make their stay as safe as possible are being taken.

We would also like to point out that said media recommendations are not official recommendation by the Czech state bodies, and would like to express out belief that said incident will not affect the traditionally excellent and friendly relations between Croatia and the Czech Republic.
